Nettle: Urtica dioica (L.)

Why Nettle Leaf? Sometimes called stinging nettle, this botanical is a bit bristly in the wild but is a health hero in your wellness kit. It is excellent in teas, tinctures, or capsules. Nettle is a wonderful support to the liver in healthy adults.

Benefits: Nettle is a helpful support to the liver in healthy adults. This botanical can also promote cholesterol, blood glucose, and blood pressure already in the normal range. It is also a helpful herb to add to teas and tinctures in the spring and fall.

Formula:

HEARTY WELLNESS TEA

Yellow dock Rumex crispus root: 1 ounce

Dandelion Taraxacum officinale root: 1 ounce

Nettle Urtica dioica: 1 ounce

Watercress Nasturtium officinale: 1 ounce

Parsley Petroselinum crispum: 1 ounce

Blend the dandelion and yellow dock roots together and weigh out one-half ounce of the blended roots. You may need to coarsely chop or even grind the roots depending on how whole they are. Use one-half ounce of the blended dandelion and yellow dock roots and one-half pint of water to prepare a decoction.

Blend the nettle, watercress, and parsley and weigh out one-half ounce of the blended herbs. While the dandelion/yellow dock decoction is still hot, pour it over one-half ounce of the nettle/watercress/parsley blend and infuse for 10 minutes. Store for no more than 24 hours in the refrigerator.

Drink one-half cup two to three times a day. If these measurements will make too much tea, you can use one teaspoon of herb or root to one cup of water to prepare each component. This will leave you with just under two cups of finished tea.

Quality Assured: Our certified organic nettle leaf is responsibly sourced from Bulgaria and Croatia. This herb is Certified Organic by Oregon Tilth and grown without the use of genetic engineering, artificial fertilizers, or pesticides.
